Leaf Structure

Overview

BRIEF: Design an installation that reflects the balance and symmetry of natural forms with consideration for structural precision and ecological harmony. The installation will be a means of testing how principles of nature can inform spatial and architectural design.

MY ROLE: Research, site analysis, conceptualization, sketching, prototyping, and hands-on construction as part of a collaborative build with the Space & Design UG22 batch.

CONCEPT: The Leaf Structure installation mirrors the organic geometry of a leaf, an interplay of strength and delicacy. The form celebrates the inherent order of nature, developed by using metal rods for the skeletal framework and translucent plastic sheets for the surface. From floor tracing to setting up, each phase required exactitude and therefore good teamwork, in which participants could have ample experience with materials, tools, and techniques. The installation stands as a study in how nature's patterns can translate into resilient and aesthetic human-made forms.

OUTCOME: A large-scale, self-driven installation epitomizing balance, precision, and collaboration, the project turned into a haptic exploration of structure and stability, connecting natural inspiration with architectural practice.
